Oto Konstein’s family

This is my family in 1942. The picture was taken in front of our house: my mother, my father, my sister and me are standing in front of our house.

My family lived in a single-story house that had two separate apartments. There was a large hall and to the right of the hall was our apartment, and to the left was the apartment of family Geiger, our neighbors. We had a large yard with a woodshed.

In the yard, there were a few fruit-trees, and a small garden, but no animals. In this picture, we are standing in front of the house.

All three of them died in the war. My sister Tea was five years younger than me. She was born in Cakovec in 1934, and died in Birkenau in 1944. She was only 10 years old.My sister and I got along very well; we were very close.

She was a sweet little girl, very lively and happy. My sister and I were very close and we had a wonderful childhood, until they came to take us.

Today I have one granddaughter and she is named Tea. She is very proud to be called after my sister.

My mother also died in Birkenau in 1944, and my father in 1945 in Auschwitz Buna.
