Mimi-Matilda Petkova at memorial grave of soldiers who died in Croatia

This picture was taken on 17th April 2002. On our way to Hungary on the occasion of the celebration of the 30th anniversary since the establishment of the WWII Women Veteran's club in Sofia, when we passed through Croatia. This is the memorial grave of the soldiers who died there during the war. I am in the front, behind me is Becca Zaharieva, Lili Beraha is to the very right, next to the woman with white hair in front of her. The sign on the grave reads: 'Generations, bow your heads. Here rest the bones of 1,027 Bulgarian officers and soldiers who died in 1945 on the battlefields of World War II on the side of the anti-Hitler coalition. They shed their blood for Bulgaria. Their heroic death preserved the dignity of our suffering fatherland. In memory of the dignified Bulgarian soldiers from the Bulgarian embassy in Croatia - 1999.'
