Marie Kohnova and her family

This is a very old photograph of my family on my grandmother's, Maria Kohnova's side. It was a Czech-speaking Jewish family from southern Bohemia that owned a farm not far from Hluboka. My grandmother is the lady in white sitting in the armchair in the right-hand corner of the photo. We didn't see this side of the family as often as my father's family; I remember Uncle Karel and Aunt Juli. The youngest of Grandma's siblings was Uncle Josef, who unfortunately isn't in the photo. He had a wife, Marta, who was a milliner in Ceske Budejovice. I loved going to visit her at her store, where I'd dig through boxes where she had various tassels and ribbons...
