Leib and Feiga Loshak and sons

These are my grandparents Leib and Feiga Loshak, with their sons. The eldest son, who is standing, is Zinoviy. The middle son is my father, Govshia Loshak. I don't know the name of the youngest brother. My grandparents were religious, but they were not fanatics about all the canons. They kept all Jewish holidays and traditions, but I cannot say that they attended the synagogue regularly. My grandfather was trained to service sewing machines and he spent all his life working for the 'Singer' company. He even went to the United States for training. I was born on June 14, 1937 in Berdichev, Zhitomir region. Berdichev was a small town. Most of the population was Jewish. As far as I remember from my parents, relations between the Ukrainians and Jews were good. My father finished only elementary school. He 'inherited' the profession of repairing sewing machines. My parents kept Jewish traditions and holidays, but they were not religious. Around 1936, my mother, Sarah Raygorodetskaya, began to work at the passport department in the city police department. Because of her official position, she was afraid to go to the synagogue. I remember well that after the war people were watched, and my mother was always afraid that somebody would learn that we celebrated Passover or other Jewish holidays at home.
