The Gal family

This postwar photograph was taken in Nitra, around 1945 or 1946, and shows the family of my father's brother, Rudolf Gal, who survived the war in the Terezin ghetto. In the upper row is my cousin Walter Gal, and standing beside him is his sister. She was slightly physically handicapped, she was hunchbacked. But she ended up studying medicine and became a pharmacist. I don't remember her name at the moment. In the bottom row is their mother, I don't remember her name either, then her brother, who we called Babi, and finally my father's brother Rudolf. Rudolf studied civil engineering and worked as an architect. The photo may have been taken right before the entire family moved to Palestine. But because of bad climactic conditions, they soon moved back to Czechoslovakia.
