Rosa Rosenstein at a Purim party with friends

This picture was taken at a Purim celebration. I had a large circle of friends and we liked to celebrate together. I'm second on the right. I met many of my friends through Jewish clubs, including boys. We went, for example, out into the countryside for the Easter holidays. There was a train to Frankfurt an der Oder, it was third or fourth class, you could sit on the floor on your rucksack and lie on a blanket. We travelled at night, which was exciting. We slept at a lake, boys and girls. Some nights we slept in haystacks with farmers. Martha, a good friend, was always next to me. Berlin has beautiful lakes. We used to go pedal boating on Wednesdays, for example, and we also went paddling. I couldn't swim, but we liked to row. I started learning to swim three times; the third time I gave up. I had no contact with Christians at all. Neither did my parents, at least not privately, only on business. It wasn't necessary.
