Our 10th international Trans.History seminar “Connecting Moldovan students with 20th Century Jewish History – and with their neighbors” took place at the Jewish Community Center in Chisinau, Moldova from November 28th – 30th, 2018. We brought together 40 educators from Ukraine, Moldova and Germany to discuss and share best practices on commemorating Jewish history and culture, and promoting active citizenship in educational contexts.
Participants took excursions to Jewish sites, listened to presentations, created lesson plans and student projects, and saw the Moldovan exhibition „The Moldovan Jewish Family Album“. Students from the Theater Lyceum and our Moldovan education coordinator, Irina Shikova guided guests through the exhibition in 5 (!) languages.
On the last day, we announced our ur annual Youth Competition, and presented two of last year‘s winning projects from Moldova. We do hope to receive many creative and intriguing submission from students all over Moldova and Ukraine.
