
Puerta Redonda
“Puerta Redonda” was the name of the old Jewish Cemetery in Thessaloniki the history of which goes back in ancient times. In December 1942, the cemetery was vandalized, demolished and finally handed over to the Aristotle University as “a property abandoned by its owners”.

QUERO ΒIVIR (I want to live)
The true story of Victoria Benouzilio who was just a child during the German Occupation that was saved because she was hidden by her godfather at his house. He was a wealthy Christian and loved her very much. What happened when her mother returned from Auschwitz? What are the difficulties of learning “the Jewish life” for a second time when one is only a small child?

The Jewish Necropolis of Thessaloniki
While working on a broader project about Jewish History in Thessaloniki, the students came across some gravestones, which they photographed and brought to school. We contacted the Israeli history teacher Ronen Kandel, whom I met during the CSA 2016. He provided the translations. The students then created this video which got them a ticket to visit Auschwitz for free. They added English subtitles and are happy to share it with you!

The Jewish History of Tétény (Budapest)

They won first prize in our video competition in 2011.

Jewish memories of Buda
We have made a short film about the Jewish memories of Buda. Our school is situated in Buda and originally it was a catholic school for girls which belonged to the order of Sion. It was built in 1930 and during the World War II. the nuns gave shelter for 110 Jewish women. They all survived.
