Emiliya and her husband Mark

In this photo are my husband Mark and myself.
The photo was taken in Leningrad in January of 1956.  On the 25th of December, 1955, I buried my beloved Uncle Emmanuil, mother's brother, who did so much good for our family.  On the 27th of December I prematurely gave birth to my daughter, who I named Emma in honor of my uncle.  This photo was taken to commemorate the birth of our daughter.  I am 24 in this photo and my husband is 22.  Before this I graduated from the geography department of the Leningrad Gertzen Pedagogical Institute and worked as a geography teacher at school.  My husband finished the Minsk higher military academy of rocketeering and served in Leningrad region.  We were married in 1954, but met earlier, when I was still studying at the institute and he was at the radio college in the city of Pushkin, Leningrad region.  I share the fate of all officers' wives.
