During the war, the grandparents from my father’s side remained in Botosani. And those living in Botosani weren’t deported, they remained there. I couldn’t tell what happened here during 1940-1944. I arrived there in March 1944, and the conditions had already improved. My grandfather worked during that period, still as a butcher.
