Winner of Best Short Documentary in three festivals
SURVIVORS OF THE BOSNIAN WAR HAVE A MESSAGE FOR THEIR FRIENDS IN UKRAINE.
For nearly four years, from 1992-1996, Bosnian Serbs set siege to the multi-ethnic city of Sarajevo, capital of Bosnia-Herzegovina. They cut off water, electricity, post and food deliveries. And they waited for the city to surrender as thousands were shot down or blown up.
But the people of Sarajevo held on. They helped each other. And in the city’s only synagogue, 54 volunteers came to work every day to give out food, medicine and hope.
Jewish Holocaust survivors worked side by side with Bosniak Muslims, Serbian Orthodox and Catholic Croats, and six of those volunteers have a message for Ukrainians today. “You will make it. Just like we did."
