Matinee at Macka Hotel

This photo was taken at a musical matinee at the Macka Hotel in the 1970s. In those years, there used to be musical matinees on Saturday and Sunday afternoons at the Macka Hotel, which was situated at the very center of town in Istanbul. We used to go to these matinees with our friends and had tea in the afternoon, chatted and listened to whatever musical attraction was organized for those afternoons. In short it was a good way to have a good time at the weekends. This photo was taken as a souvenir of one of those days. In the photo you can see, from left to right, Izidor Baruh and his wife Zelda Baruh, then my wife Suzi Schilton and me. Izidor Baruh is the owner of the advertising firm called “Ilancilik” and he is my wife’s second cousin. I remember having a great time that day.
