CSA 2016 - Day 5

I was supposed to write a blog on the second day of the CSA 2016 but because of some technical problems, I’ll give my impression of the fifth day.Amazing and day full of emotions started with our trip to Terezin, former Terezinstadt Ghetto. Although there were no extermination camps in former Czechoslovakia, Jews from this occupied country mostly ended up in extermination camps in Poland. We had a chance to visit the town, the museum, crematorium and a memorial dedicated to victims from the Terezinstadt Ghetto. A special part of the museum is reserved for a drawings of children captured in the former Ghetto of Terezinstadt. We were honoured to get a chance to meet and hear the survivors, Mrs Dagmar Lieblova and Doris Grozdanovičova who shared their stories with us. I had a special opportunity to chat with Mrs Doris Grozdanovičova who was a shepard in Terezinstadt Ghetto. Remarkable and cheerful lady left a very strong impression on me. After our powerfull conversation she returned a smile on my face when she asked to see a photo we took together and when she said how beautiful we are. The town with a fortress was also a prison where Gavrilo Princip was captured after the assassination in Sarajevo and where he spent his last days.On the way to Berlin, in the bus, I have got an idea of a topic we can use in different subjects. I spoke to Kirstin about it and in half an hour we had a draft for a new cross cultural project. After we arrived in our hotel in Berlin, we went for a Shabbat service to Pestalozzi Street Synagogue. Remarkable building is the only synagogue with liberal service. We had a chance to hear the service with organs what is unusual for a synagogue. A day full of events and emotions we ended up on a Shabbat Dinner in a nearby restaurant.
