This photograph was taken here in Botosani at the wedding of my cousin, Marcu Klein. This is our entire family. My mother, Sura Ghebergher, is the third from the right in the back row and her sister, Dora Solomovici, is the second from the right. My mother's brother, Avram Klein, who was the father of the groom, is the second from the right in the second row, the row behind the children. The one on his left, to the right of the groom, is Seindl Klein, my uncle's wife. The second from the right in the third row is Iulius Klein, one of uncle Avram's sons. I, Marim Haller, am the one on the left. This was my first ball dress. The one on my left is Marcu Malis from Falticeni, with his wife, Liza, one of my uncle's daughters. The one behind me, the second from the left counting from my mother, is Roza Fleisher - another of my uncle's daughters. And the rest are members of the Machtunmschaft families. The bride's name was Luta; her parents are on her left, their family name was Machtunmschaft, but I don't remember their first names - the head is small.

I don't know exactly in what year the photograph was taken. I think I was 14-15, so it must have been around 1929-1930. And I think it was taken right there in the saloon where the wedding took place. It was a wedding organized in a ballroom. That's where the religious ceremony took place as well, everything. That's how it was done in those days. It was a hall where the cinema was housed. They brought a chuppah there and that's where everything was performed.

The  name of my mother's brother [the father of the groom] was Avram Klein, but everybody called him Avromta. He was a very endowed man, as they say. He was a tall, handsome man, and he was renowned, he was very well read, had a Jewish culture. He observed tradition, he often went to the shil [shul]. He also performed prayers at the temple on many occasions. But he did so voluntarily, didn't receive any money for it. He was a pious person. He was about 5 years older than my mother [was born around 1870]. He had a leather shop in Botosani. My uncle died when he was around 90 [probably in the 1960's]. He died here, in Botosani, he has a monument at the cemetery together with his wife.

His wife's name was Seindl, and they had 8 children: 4 sons and 4 daughters. Clara Rintler, Saly Haimovici, Roza Flaiser, Liza Malis - these are the daughters. And these were the sons: Marcu - the youngest [the groom on the photo] -, Iancu, Iulius, and … oh my, what was his name - I can't remember it just now. They were all older than me. The youngest of them was 4-5 years older than me. All of them graduated high school. The boys were merchants, their father's trade.
