I  remember when I first realized I was going to coming to Sarajevo thinking how exciting it would be to walk in the footsteps of the First World War.  What I did not realize was it will be more than that.   Walking around the city, I have been fascinated by the multicultural society of Jews, Muslims, and Christians.  To enjoy our meal with the Jews of Sarajevo, to see the lighted minarets, and the Christian and Orthodox churches.  To see the Jewish cemetery that goes back 400 yearse.  Every night I stay up and hear the busy streets and call to prayer.  As an American who loves to experience the world, I can't ask anything more!  I keep thinking it is a Saturday night, but it isn't.  It is Tuesday.  Would we such a lively night on a Tuesday?  I also look around at the visible evidence of the Bosnian Wars and wonder if the people are healed.  They are the scars of the city.  Now that I am here, it makes it real.  Not on a screen or somewhere far off, but here...
