Awesome Day!

Today was our last day in Vienna with CSA 2016!  I can honestly say, I have never seen a more beautiful city.  I am very grateful to Centropa for allowing me to have this incredible experience.  Being that it is my first time in Europe, today was definitely the icing on the cake.  As an American History teacher, the visit to the Museum of Military History was a highlight on the trip today.  Seeing Archduke Franz Ferdinand's car brought all of the images and documentaries I have seen to life!   I cannot wait to share my photos with my students when I teach World War I.  In addition to the military museum was the visit to the Belvedere....wow, is all I can say!  So many wonderful works of art, especially the different Klimt paintings.  The architecture of the palace along with the grounds were all images of grandeur and definitely showcased a true gem sitting in Vienna.  After seeing so many beautiful and historical sites, the day included a very powerful discussion with several seniors in Vienna who lived through the Holocaust.  I had the priviilege of listening to Dr. Lucia Heilman discuss her life and having to live in hiding for four years.  Being able to connect a face after watching her Centropa film was truly amazing!  She was very candid in her speaking, but despite enduring such tragedy, she was determined to create a successful life for her and her family.  This touching meeting left a lasting impression on me that I will not forget.  Even though we are only 3 days in to the CSA, I cannot wait for what is to come!
