The wedding of Jozsef Weisz and Marta Bolgar

This picture was taken at the wedding of Jozsef Weisz and Marta Bolgar, in Budapest in 1938. Jozsi was my cousin, the youngest son of my father's older sister Aunt Etel. I am standing in the first row, on the left edge of the picture, next to me is Vera, the daughter of Jozsi's older sister. Aunt Etel (Eszter Weisz, nee Izsak) is standing behind her. All of my paternal cousins are in this picture: seven boys and two girls. Jozsi had four brothers and two sisters. My father's younger sister Flora had two sons. The older one, Bela, is standing on the right side of the picture, between his parents. The younger one, Alfred Lowi (Andras Lukacs) is the third from left in the last row. Jozsi's wife, Marta was a piano teacher. They had an apartment on the outskirts of Ujlipotvaros, a small one-bedroom apartment, or rather a studio apartment, half of the room was taken up by the piano. Jozsi was soon drafted into forced labor. He perished at the beginning of 1945, near the Austrian border, in a death march.
