Livia Diaconescu

This photo of me was taken on 13th June 1929. My father wrote on the back `Daddy's Livisoara [Livia] at eight months minus seven days, photographed in the courtyard of our house`, 82 Cotesti Street. The one who took the picture was probably my father. He also sold photo cameras with a tripod in our store; he had turned the little room next door into a small lab where he developed the films; I don't think he charged much for this - it was fun for him. My complexion was darker than other kids' and some relative called me a ?beetle? after becoming very upset with my parents. In time, this turned into a fondling nickname, ?little beetle?. My mother kept this huge black pram for years and the small blanket, made of a thin cloth, still exists today.
