Anna Vidor

This is a portrait of my mother Anna Vidor, nee Hahn, taken at the beginning of the 20th century in Bratislava. My mother was born in 1885 in Felegyhaza, which was then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. She went to a secondary school for girls in Bratislava. My father came to Bratislava when he was in the military. Here he met my mother in the theater and he simply fell in love. My mother was very pretty, and they married when she was 20. I was born five years later. My parents first lived on Grosslingova Street, which was lined with very nice houses. That's where I was born. Even my birth certificate says Grosslingova 15. My mother perished in Auschwitz in 1944.
