Albertos Beraha with his cousin David Benveniste and relatives

This picture was taken in Florina around 1936 or 1937. You can see how women used to dress back then.

At the front you can see my cousin David who was taken to the concentration camps.

When I grew up a bit I had one cousin that I used to hang out with even though he was older, I used to go the cinema with him. His name was David Benveniste.

We would go to the various cinemas in Thessaloniki, as there were lots of them around town.

As he was three four years older than me, he had taken up the role of my guardian. However, he didn’t survive the Holocaust.
