This is the wedding picture of uncle Shmuel and aunt Kler Kalef. The photo was taken in Plovdiv on 2nd October 1938.
My uncle had a hardware store in Plovdiv. He went to Israel in 1948 where he worked as a docker in a port and after that he had a shop in Ako. He has two daughters - Tilda, who is a clerk, and Rebeca, who is a biologist.
There was a tradition then that everybody should make and bring to a gathering or some other occasion a ?masafa? cake, which was very popular at that time - it is made from ground almonds and sugar. After the wedding my uncle went on his honeymoon and left us plenty of sweets.
