Café Centropa in Hungary

This school year - September 2013 - May 2014 - Centropa Hungary organized 6 Café Centropa meetings for our interviewees. We had lectures, cultural events, discussions, and we also organized 4 extra meetings with students. Café Centropa helps us stay in touch with our interviewees, we build a small community among them and also we bring closer two generations and through the personal communication open a new way of teaching 20th century history from a methodological aspect.

Centropa Hungary - Town Hall Meeting 2014

On the 23rd of May we held our annual Town Hall meeting in Budapest at the Holocaust Memorial Center. We awarded the best student video projects, the student tour guides of our traveling exhibition, other creative student projects, and the best lesson plans submitted by our teachers. We congratulate all Centropa teachers and their students for their extraordinary work they have done throughout the year.

Centropa Seminar in Prague

On the 16th and 17th of May 2014 Centropa orgnaized a seminar in Prague in partnership with the Jewish Museum of Prague. 33 teachers participated, we showed our Czech films, our traveling exhibition consisting of stories from the Czech Republic, and we also showed other educational materials. Teachers worked on lesson plans and project ideas based on these Centropa resources.

Survival in Sarajevo exhibition opening in the US Senate

Since 2012, our Sarajevo exhibition has been traveling the US (another version is traveling Europe) and thanks to The Milton and Rozyln Wolf Foundation and JDC, it went on view in the rotunda of the Russell Senate Office Building 12-16 May 2014. Senator Ben Cardin spoke at the opening, along with State Department Special Envoy Douglas Douglas Davidson, High Representative for Bosnia Ambassador Valentin Inzko, La Beneolencija chairman Jakob Finci, Bosnian Ambassador Jadranka Negodic, and Dr Susan Blaustein.
