EDUCATION

- Centropa Jewish Network

The Centropa Jewish Network (CJN) is one of the few associations of Jewish school educators in Europe. The goal of the CJN is to connect Jewish students across cultures, to provide professional development opportunities to educators in Jewish schools, and to create a support system for quality education in European Jewish schools. CJN teachers create opportunities for their students to learn from and work with Jewish school students in the US and Israel through cross-cultural projects they design around Jewish life and culture.

OTHER RESOURCES

Kristallnacht (available in English, German and Hebrew)

For this website, which commemorates the Novemberpogrom against Jewish citizens in Germany and Austria in 1938, Centropa has selected 15 excerpts from our interviews with elderly Viennese Jews that we conducted since 2000.

- Survival in Sarajevo - The Story of La Benevolencija (available in English, Hungarian, Polish and Romanian)

This project is based on the book by Edward Serotta, Survival in Sarajevo: Jews, Bosnia, and the Lessons of the Past, published in 1994 and now out of print but available through abebooks.com. The exhibition from this project has been created by Centropa, and has been underwritten by JDC (the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee) and The Milton and Rosyln Wolf Foundation.

- Trans-history (available in English, German, Polish, Ukrainian, Russian and Romanian)

In cooperation with local partners, the Trans-history project aims to connect Ukrainians and Moldovans to their country's Jewish history, and to their neighbors. Through trans-national seminars, films, exhibitions and student competitions, the program fosters cultural exchange and democratic values, as well as a balanced culture of remembrance in Eastern Europe.
